I browsed over Best Buy and Circuit City and never found superhit games like Resident Evil4, Tekken 5 or Winning Eleven in there selection. Wonder why? Are they always out of stock or they dont like to sell these games.

No glimpse of SNOW yet January 27, 2006

It’s been very busy days in USA. Work as a tight grip (Dead Lock similarly to WWE wrestlers) on me, this doesn’t even allow me to breath. I hope I will get a little free and get time to Blog and do little personal work and of course breathe freely.

Well leaving professional life apart, I am sad to say that I have not yet got a glimpse of SNOW yet in USA. I dearly hope to have fun with SNOW before I go back to India.

During our family trip, when we were coming from KRS Dam to mysore for a night halt. We came across a beautiful chruch all lit up for Christmas. The green glow to the chrush was astonishng.

It was newly built chruch of Infant Jesus. It had a lovely crucifix and a beautiful Jesus Christ made with small creamic tiles on the wall. Lovely what best can you ask on a Christmas day.

Belive it or not in my entire life I have never seen snow. I was exicited to see it for the frist time. It would be when I visit Birmingham USA during the winter. I hope I will get to see, feel and maybe even taste it to see if it is salty or not. All I know about Snow is it is white and thanks to pictures, movies and TV for that information. Anyway, I will keep you informed about “Snow Excitment” here forward.

US-CERT Vulnerabilities Annual Summary January 6, 2006

US-CERT’s latest annual summary of vulnerabilities discovered in 2005 states that Windows operating system as about 812 reported vulnerabilities and Unix/Linux as 2,328 reported. When you give this number to even a 2nd grade student he will tell you that Windows is a much safer operating system than Unix/Linux.

If you look closer to the Unix/Linux vulnerabilities you will find vulnerabilities are from all flavors of Unix/Linux like Solaris, Redhat, Fedora, SUSE, Mandrake, Debian, FreeBSD… countless of these compared to Windows which are hand few – Windows 2003, 2000, NT, XP, ME, 98 and 95. Hence a bigger number of vulnerabilities in Unix/Linux due to large number of variants in its category.

Traveling to Birmingham, Alabama, USA January 6, 2006

I am on an official trip to Birmingham, Alabama, USA from 12-Jan06 to 12-Mar-06. I am going as a consultant for implementing remote support capability to one of our clients. Basically we want to remote support few IT services of our client in USA from India to reduce the cost. Man Oh Man everyone is ready and willing to cut cost to make more net profit. It is predicted by Gartner that the highest growing sub-division of IT is going to remote support management and it’s estimated to be some billion of dollars. I hope I can get some fraction of it @ the end of my project.

Google Earth!!! January 2, 2006

No doubt Google earth is the best software for passing your time (Kill time when you are bored or have nothing to do). First time I saw Google Earth was in Charlotte, USA about 6 months ago. It was shown by my friends Jokerr. That time I could not zoom down to see buildings or roads of my home town – Bangalore. Today when I checked it again I could get closer and see my house and see latest developments around my home and its area.

Amazing!!!

Google Earth team is continuously working on building up the data on which you can search and surf the virtual globe. Everything is good and going great for Google Earth except for one small requirement – INTERNET BANDWIDTH. This small requirement is a very big constraint for people in India and people like me.

Anyways I will stop cribing about infrastructure in India or even for that matter the Silicon city of India – Bangalore. And just say ENJOY MAADI (Expression frequently used in Bangalore, MAADI means “do” and phrase means “do enjoy”)
